Great For DJs

If youre a DJ and want to cleanup some of your songs, this app is great. I load entire albums at a time and it loads fast and flawlessly. You can get rid of dead air at the beginning of and the end of songs easily. Some of the songs that I do are old songs where there were tape hiss, this app has a feature "Denoising>White Noise", depending on the strength of the signal, I generally start at -70db and work my way up from there (up meaning -65db then -60db, etc). The neat thing about the Denoising is its simple and it doesnt get rid of any top-end of the song. If you apply the effect to heavily, then your song sounds like its in a can. Another neat feature is it will list effects that you use most often in an "Actions List" window which comes in handy if you want to apply the effect without having to go through the setup process (meaning once you set the effect up, you can use that same effect just by clicking it in the Actions List window. If your song has bad stereo imaging, you can either simply mono it or correct the balance. This is done very easily. The features in this app are too numerous to mention in this little box, but if you are a DJ that cares about the way your songs sound through the Mains, this is, by far, the best app.

Almost complete

I have used various versions of this program for about 8-10 years. It is solid and reliable, and does many analysies and transformations accurately and fast. Graphics is excellent. A workhorse and easy to use. For almost as long I have been trying to get them to include autocorrelation analysis, a very useful tool expecially for music and speech. Several free programs have it.

Exactly What I wanted

After using Audacity and Garageband for many years, I decided I needed a better tool. After spending about 15 mintues tweaking and fiddling, it was set up exactly the way that I wanted it. Ive edited about 4 hours of podcasts with Amadeus Pro, and it has been great. Its much snappier than Audacity and Garageband, and the UI is very customizable. Worth every cent.

Powerful Application with Responsive Support

This is a very, very good audio editor. Im giving it five stars not only for the functionality, but also because of the responsiveness of the author. Functionally its great for folks who need more than what something like Audacity gives you, but dont need the complexity of a Pro Tools or even Logic. I was a Cool Edit Pro/Audition and Sound Forge user for years, and this sits in that same sweet spot for me. Something to be aware of at the moment: if your *only* machine is a late 2012 MacBook Pro *with Retina Display* (non-Retina displays arent affected), you may want to hold off. Theres a screen-drawing bug thats giving quite a performance hit. The author is working on it. I had to force-quit the app and based on the crash report that was sent to him he reached out to me with an explanation. Since I can use the program on a different (non-Retina) machine I can afford to be patient. Im not posting this as a criticism (five stars, remember?) because I have every confidence its going to be resolved soon. When it does Ill amend this review. Im only bringing it up to prevent someone from getting the wrong first impression about the program.

Amazing: Batch Processing is so fast I didnt think it worked at all.

Great program. Cut hours and hours of work spent with Media Encoder crashes down into seconds. I love this app.

Doesnt work (properly) with my new retina MBP. Very slow.

10.8.2 retina MBP. Very slow. Cant do much. Need to buy another audio app as I need one right now.

A pretty package prone to crashing

After reading all the reviews I could get my hands on, my decision on audio editor came down to Amadeus Pro and Audacity. Though Audacity was free, the user interface was TERRIBLE, so I shelled out the money for Amadeous Pro. I edit a weekly podcast for my church, which often lasts over 30 minutes. I dont know what it is about that particular length, but Amadeous HATES it. The program crashes with frequency (about 5 times per podcast editing session). Thankfully, Ive gotten really good with the Command-S shortcut, so Ive stopped losing vital edits, but the numerous crash reports Ive sent to Support have gone unanswered. YES, the program is pretty and easy to use, but the crippling crashes make it a bit of a bear to use.

Easy to use, but crashes ALL THE TIME.

I like this program overall. I would give it 4 or 5 stars, if it didnt crash CONSTANTLY. It is SO frustrating! It is user friendly and works great. However, I have to save my changes after every tiny tweak because I never know when it will crash. I wish they woud fix it!

Thanks for the "update"

Wow. Everything worked fine las night. Then came the update. Today, I cant encode WAV files to MP3, ALAC, or anything else. ALAC just fails with no explanation, and MP3 keeps saying theres a LAME error but then wont say what the error is. FIX THIS PROGRAM!!!!

Mp3 export doesnt work

Ive used the program for years and years before it was on the App store, and its always been fantastic. The recent upgrade will not export mp3 files, saying that there was a (blank) LAME error. If you have the program, dont upgrade. If you want an mp3 converter, dont buy it. Otherwise, it is a fabulous program.

Thanks for the Quick Fix!

This is a an excellent app for all things audio! The batch processing is incredibly handy. Thanks to the developer for being on the ball: this latest update fixes a problem introduced in the previous update just a few days earlier.

THIS APP IS AWESOME!

I needed an app for converting WMAs to Mp4s and also an app for audo editing. This app has that and SO MUCH more! I havent even touched the tip of the iceburg as to what this program can do. I also use it for recording audio for our churchs worship services. This is the best $60 you will spend on the entire app store if you really need good audio software! Cant brag enough about it. Just be careful, it will try to take over when you open a newly downloaded video. There is a way to make it not do that. Still, NO COMPLAINTS! AWESOME APP!

No loop for editing music?!?!?!?!?!

Bought this to take the place of BIAS Peak I have on my G5. Decent product, but no loop function gives it 3 stars. I use the loop function for editing music to play out, extending parts for longer play (making them DJ friendly). Everything else in this app is icing on the cake. How can this app NOT have a loop function?

Best audio editor for mac

I have tried literally every audio editor for Mac, and this one is the best. It has more features than most and is the only one that has all the features I need. Its light-weight and the GUI is clean and intuitive, with simple to remember keystrokes to speed up my workflow. It also has a nice batch processor. I generally do complex sound design in my DAW, but for quick wav editing or simple multitrack audio work, this is my go-to piece of software. I havent tried its noise reduction (I use iZotope RX), but for what I use it for, its a great piece of software.

Intuitive, comprehensive, versatile…as of December 2013

Not my first DAW. I use it for re-mastering, creating component parts for use in other applications, Dub editing, etc. Spendid product and very competitive vis-à-vis price. HOWEVER, the last update ( January 2014) is not working correctly…and here is how… When using Effects, such as AU or VST - but not limited to these - one can select a Preview option to hear the effect of changes one makes in real time, BUT only once or twice before the Preview button ceases to work. One must then Quit the application without making any changes on any of the various controls for that particular Effect, such as an AU-EQ slider. This will mean that the relative position of the various adjustments and values will not change upon Quiting the application, nor will any change take place in the document that was open since the last time one has selected Save or Save As. Re-opening any document and returning to the last used Effect will display the Effect is the same state as when one previously Quit the application, and now will give you one or two fresh uses of the Preview button. For me, this means Double-Clicking on the Amadeus document to re-open the file and application in one step - then continueing on with what I was doing a moment before. As a result of the above mentioned update, when I Double-Click on that last document a Dialog window now opens to inform me that Amadeus Pro is damaged in some way and it must be re-downloaded from the App Store. This is a hassle and does not solve the problem. Ignoring the Dialog window and dragging the file to the Amadeus Icon in the Dock opens the file and I continue forward…. BUT, I now have to insert several steps into the re-opening process which diminishes through-put, concentration upon the task at hand, and efficiency…. More later when this gets fixed…IF EVER!

Great App

Easy to learn to use but also has great depth of features.

Incredible! A must have for iMac/Mac users

This is the most Incredible and powerful audio editor ever made for the average user. You can drop video files, MP4 or M4V and save as an audio file. Another powerful feature is the ability to BATCH edit. Easy to understand user guide. Convert stereo audio files to mono with the PRO version. I use this app every day.

Not Pro enough

Amadeus Pro was highly touted on various as an excellent replacement for the powerful audio editor and mastering tool "BIAS Peak Pro". My main use for such a tool is 2-cahnnel file conversion, minor processing like levels, dynamics, or equalization, and most importantly, fine detailed editing of dialog and sound effects. Amadeus Pro seems fine for all of those tasks except detailed editing; for this its a hard slog getting precision work done. Theres no way to scrub to find a precise edit point. And it lacks Peaks very easy and intuitive feature of selection deletion with crossfade. Yes, with some futzing you can delete a section, and the drag the remaining sections together and create a crossfade. But taking a hundred "ums" and "ahhs" out of an interview, which I could do only a bit slower than real-time in Peak Pro, could take many, many times the duration of the clip in Amadeus Pro. This is the first version of Amadeus Pro Ive used. All in all the app is elegant and seems reliable. For a lot of less demaning, less professional audio tasks, Im certain its an adequately powerful tool.

Latest OS upgrade disabled my Amadeus Pro

I am not sure what happened but I was recording some radio stuff for a little while. I took a break and let my Mac update while I got a snack. After the update and restart now Amadeus wont even open. I uninstalled and reinstalled the App but no luck. What gives? Be careful about updates on your Mac. Apparently Amadeus isnt as up to date as it needs to be.

Attention All Amadeus Pro Users, You Can Relax Now

I am immensely happy to report, in this first review of Amadeus Pro version 2.1.7, that the application does run on OS X 10.9.5 now. If any of you other Amadeus Pro users are like me, and you updated your Mac to 10.9.5 without half thinking, only to find that Amadeus Pro wouldn’t even open, well, your troubles are now over. Update to version 2.1.7 of Amadeus Pro right this minute if you haven’t already. You’re going to need to do so, especially if you plan on getting Yosemite when it comes out. This new version of the app does run great. I’ve opened it about four times already since I’ve updated, and everything’s fine. Thanks so much to the developer for getting this critical update out on the app store so quickly. I was almost heart-broken when I found that the previous version would not even open on OS 10.9.5. After all, Amadeus Pro is the only audio editor I use because it’s so awesome, so imagine how delighted I was when I updated the app today and found it working again. Once again, thanks to the developer for a quick and critical update that fixed everything.
