VBR

Where is the VBR option for mp4 / m4a files ? is there not a way to force import m4a LowDelay in iTunes ? Nice App

Professional Features at a good price

Solid application with a great feature set suitable for all kinds of audio editing, monitoring and analysis. Stable (mostly) and fast. Highly recommended.

Essential Software

I have used previous versions of the program to de-noise (mathematically eliminate & make CD quality without destroying signal) recordings made some 35+ years ago. The developer maintains the software which I deem to be ESSENTIAL for mastering ANY recording project, new or old. Absolute must have GEM, the results are shocking!

Fantastic piece of work

I’ve been using Amadeus for two years now; not only is it an absolutely powerful piece of software, the developer behind it is an extremely kind man who supports his product entirely, all by himself, with more care than entire teams of devs do. Easy enough for basic use, powerful enough that it can be even be used as a multi-faceted composition tool.

Simple and powerful.

One of those rare applications combining simplicity to use with outstanding power. I use it to work on music which is broadcasted to large amount of people and results are always over expectations. Working with very sophisticated, small fragments is especially fun. It is just uneblievable how well Amadeus works with them. Be prepared - application requires significant amount of RAM to work smoothly. About 20 minutes long wave tracks require at least 16 GB in my experience for the smoothest results.

Sweet update! Thanks so much!

I love this update! I really, really, really love this freaking update! I’ve been using Amadeus Pro for the past two years now, going on three, and it has become my most-used, most-loved, my absolute favorite third-party program of all time, hands down. It’s just the most fantastic sound editor ever, and this update makes it better in ways that I can really feel. First of all, for anyone wondering, it is still perfectly accessible with VoiceOver. Major cudos to Mr. Hairer and team for keeping it that way. Secondly, although I haven’t yet upgraded to Mac OS Sierra, I hear this update works really well with it, which is a huge relief for me. Ever since September of 2014, I get really nervous about updating my system software, in case Amadeus is rendered incompatible, but although Sierra looks to be quite a major upgrade, like Yosemite was, it will not harm amadeus Pro, especially not now. So, I can get Siri on my Mac without being afraid of losing my audio editor. Huge relief! Thirdly, Amadeus appears to launch faster. Can’t tell that for sure, but it certainly seems that way to me. Finally, that Command-P shortcut… OMG! Where has that been all this time? I’m so glad I don’t have to scroll through a big, long dialog box, just to preview an audio unit. For some reason, I could never remember where the preview button is, but now, I don’t have to anymore. I didn’t even ask for the Command-P shortcut, but goodness gracious, I’m happy to have it! As always, for those of you looking for the best sound editor you can possibly acquire for the Mac, look no further. Amadeus Pro is all you need. And, to Mr. Martin Hairer and company, thanks so much for continuing to care about, and improve, this already excellent program.

How have I not reviewed this?

I guess most of my applications are downloaded from the vendor’s site. But I must leave a little love for the handiest sound editor on the platform! I’ve used this work horse for 5 years without a single regret or problem. Defining easy to use controls and shortcuts is the name of the game for me. I need to cut, chop and deal quickly with audio and kudos to the developer(s) here for making a great go-to app for that purpose. Too many features to mention, but if you’re familiar with soundforge and Audacity, you’re getting a nice little marriage between the two. Simplicity of the interface of Audacity, with the power and intuitiveness of forge. I hope they continue making it better for many years to come.

Best Audio Editor

I have used Amadeus Pro for years. It has been the most reliable, stable, full-featured audio editor around. I highly recommend Amadeus. I am fully satisfied with its capabilities. The author has been regularly updating Amadeus for years. Thus, you can rely on this software now and in the future. The author has done a great job of upgrading to the 2.0 version. So much so that I decided to buy it in full through the Apple Store rather than simply purchase an upgrade. This way, I also will have the convenience of updates through the Apple store for all of my Macs.

Indispensable Sound Software

Ive been using Amadeus Pro for years. It IS the best for what I need to do- editing sound files for podcast and/or theatrical sound effects. But Im irked that there is no way to upgrade via the app store. Id have to buy it outright. Again. May be more an Apple issue than developers, and is certainly not unique to this developer, but theres gotta be a way. Irked, Im just irked.

Fantastic Audio Editor

This saved me a ton of money from having to buy Adobe Audition for 4x the price. Works great, no problems so far.

Great Program

I have used Amadeus Pro for several years and really love it. Simple to use and reliable. I especially like the batch process when converting audio files for use on the web. Im really happy to see it in the Mac App Store.

A lot of bugs still...

Been trying to edit one sound file into an AIFF. Seems like theres an issue loading an existing sound file to edit. It skips in several places. A few navigating bugs, too. Nothing serious, but I cant cut and paste a simple sound file, this app is unuseable.

Great software!

Great software, works exactly as advertised. Have tried about every sub-$100 multi-track recording package out there, this one beats them all. Elegant user interface, packed with features, flawless handling of WAV, AIF and MP3 files in and out, tons of features. We use it for high volume editing of spoken word recordings for online courses and news, its fast and efficient. 5 stars!

Was considering Audition...Why?

I needed a workhorse audio editor to clean up voiceover tracks. Until now, Ive used an ancient version of Cool Edit Pro (has become Adobe Audition). I recently purchased a new Mac and wanted to consolidate all my app onto it. SOOOO happy that I found this; it lets me do everything that I need to, quicker and at a fraction the price of Audition!

Crash prone; poor audio results

Lots of crashes, audio edits end up sounding scratchy and just overall poor in quality. Not very pleased. I used to use the desktop version of Amadeus and decided to spring for the app when it came out. I kinda want my money back. Please?

Great app but needs Lion support.

This app is great for my audio needs especially for the price. The only drawback Ive seen yet is that it crashes very often since my upgrade to Lion. Im guessing they will be addressing this?

Great application must have for easy conversion of audio

Been using this app for many years. Happy to see it in the app store!

Beats out Adobe Soundbooth

Im doing a lot of basic audio editing so my experience is limited to the standard features of cutting, fading, minimal effects and adjustments. However, Im coming from Soundbooth in the CS4 suite that crashed ALL THE TIME since I upgraded to Lion. I like that its a one touch button to burn an audio track to a cd and the adjustments I can make to different tracks to come from certain sets of speakers. I find it easy to use and quick for my needs. My only issue is zooming out. The track will zoom out to be a fraction of the timeline and Im not really sure what the point is in doing that. Still though, fantastic program.

Great editor/recorder

Im using this program in conjunction with an ION Tape Express to digitize my cassette collection. The program works great. Capture is straightforward, and the denoise sample/supress works very well. Using markers to start/end the tracks and then split the recording work very well. This was a good purchase.

Better than anything Ive used before!

I am using Amadeus Pro to digitze my vinyl LP collection. While it may not be as automated as other products claim to be, Amadeus Pro actually works and works consistently. Other than the time it takes to record the LP, it takes less than 15 minutes to mark, name and split the tracks on the LP and then export them to iTunes. This is a wonderful product.
